If the threat is "real", they both should detect it. If the Scanner does not, but Defender continues to. do so, Defender is presenting a false positive. You can eliminate the false detection from Defender, by deleting its "Detection History". A perfectly safe thing to do. The status of a device will be switched to Inactive 7 days after offboarding.
